IMMIGRATION AND INTEGRATION IN NORTHERN VERSUS SOUTHERN EUROPE

In November 2002, the Netherlands Institute in Athens organized a two-day bilateral academic seminar around the general theme of immigration and integration in Northern and Southern Europe. Scholars from various Greek and Dutch universities debated research done with regard to immigrants and the labor market, religion and national identity, political influence and education. The lively discussions centered on similarities and differences between Greece and the Netherlands.

In June 2004 the book with the same title appeared, published by the Netherlands Institute in Athens. Together the articles give an overview of the sate of research in this field in Greece and in the Netherlands. Moreover, it provides a comparative perspective with regard to immigration and integration within Europe.
