| The
NIA is managed by a council that is made up by the presidents of the
boards of the six founding Universities.

| The board meets once a year, presided by the University of Amsterdam. Being the managing University, the University of Amsterdam supports the NIA in a wide range of organizational, legal and financial matters. For this reason there is regular contact between the NIA and the Bureau for Academic Affairs of the University of Amsterdam. The academic advisory council plays an important role in the scientific work of the Institute. The council meets twice a year and consists of Academic experts from various disciplines, among which classics, Byzantine studies, archaeology, Modern Greek language and culture, and ancient history. |
